In 2004 Helios was acquired by Cypriot Libra Holidays Group.
On August 14, 2005, Helios Flight 522 crashed en route from Larnaca to Athens, killing all 121 aboard. The suspected cause was a loss of cabin pressure.
In the wake of this accident Helios was rebranded ajet. The new airline withdrew from scheduled operations and only offered charter flights.
On October 31, 2006, the airline announced it was ceasing operations immediately. According to the ajet website, all already scheduled flights were to be operated by other airlines.
Before that the airline had operated three Boeing 737-800s, all of them new and bought directly from Boeing.
